Slang has recently made his mark on Brisbane street culture in the last 12 months with iconic, consistent and colourful montages of a lifestyle that is complex but rewarding. With a strong theme of infamous activities, he often draws no identity behind his characters, and allows his art to speak for itself. Sideslang has made something positive of his experience, and is representing street culture for a voice that is often dismissed and not acknowledged with respect or understanding. When we interviewed Sideslang he had stacks of drawings, paintings and fresh garments that were not just impressive but an example of backing yourself and making something from the underground.
